Nicodemus Weal is a cacographer, unable to reproduce even simple magical texts without ‘misspelling’ – a mistake which can have deadly consequences. He was supposed to be the Halcyon, a magic-user of unsurpassed power, destined to save the world; instead he is restricted to menial tasks, and mocked for his failure to live up to the prophecy.
But not everyone interprets prophecy in the same way. There are some factions who believe a cacographer such as Nicodemus could hold great power – power that might be used as easily for evil as for good. And when two of the wizards closest to Nicodemus are found dead, it becomes clear that some of those factions will stop at nothing to find the apprentice and bend him to their will… Continue reading
I recently went on holiday to Portugal, Albufeira.
This was one of my family’s ‘Sun Holiday’ so this means for us mostly lying around by the pool, reading books and sunbathing, and occasionally jumping in the pool to cool down a little.
If you suddenly had a friend that only you could see or hear, what would you do?
You could worry that your stressful life has tipped you over the edge and you have lost the plot, big time… you could hide under your duvet, hoping they would go away…
You could have some fun…
You could make your ex boyfriend take you back…
You could solve the mystery of the dragonfly necklace, make a fool of yourself many times, get your business back on its feet…
You could dance with a gorgeous man who just can’t resist you…
and you could just discover the best friend you ever had.
In a couple of days independence is going to take on a whole new meaning for me.
About a month ago I went into school, received an envelope and hesitantly open it up to reveal my exam result that decided my fate for the coming school year.
Luckily my grades were just good enough for my selected application which means that I managed to get into University on my desired course!
There are some things in life that you just can’t plan for…

When a new NASA satelite detects evidence of an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory… a victory that has profound implications for U.S. space policy and the impending presidential election.
With the Oval Office in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Arctic to verify the authenticity of the find. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic academic Michael Tolland, Rachel uncovers the unthinkable – evidence of scientific trickery – a blod deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy.
But before Rachel can make her findings known, she realises, perhaps too late, that such knowledge puts her and Tolland in deadly jeopardy. Fleeing for their lives in an environment as desolate as it is lethal, they possess only one hope for survival: to find out who is behind this masterful ploy. The truth they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all…
Sergeant Amy Callan and Lieutenant Caroline Cooke have a lit in common.
Both were army high-fliers. Both were acquainted with Jack Reacher. Both were forced to resign from the service.
Now they’re both dead.
Found in their own homes, naked, in a bath full of paint. Apparent victims of an army man. A loner, a smart guy with a score to settle, a ruthless vigilante.
A man just like Jack Reacher.
When sixteen-year-old Sophie Mercer discovers she’s a witch, she imagines life will be full of magic, fun and… well… broomsticks! But her first attempt at a love spell goes disastrously wrong and, as punishment, Sophie is shipped off to Hecate “Hex” Hall, a reform school for witches, shapeshifters and faeries.
By the end of her first day among her fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tag-along ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person on campus and the only vampire.
Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students and her only friend is the number-one suspect…
It’s not my fault that I was born with it all – good looks, silky blond hair, and a keen sense of what everyone else should not be wearing. My life (ahem, death) isn’t perfect, though. Run over by a bus of band geeks – could there be anything worse? Actually, yes. I’m quickly losing control of my afterlife, and the only person who can see or hera me is Will Killian, TOTAL loser boy. If I can get Will to talk to me, I might have a chance. But that means trusting him with my secrets… and I don’t trust anyone, living or dead.
My mom thinks I’m crazy. My shrink wants to lock me up. Basically, my life sucks. And that was before the homecoming queen started haunting me. Alona Dare was a pain when she was alive; dead she’s even worse. Yeah, I can see, hear, and touch ghosts. And now I’ve got a dead cheerleader who won’t leave me alone, and a violent new ghost who wants me dead. Alona and I might be able to help each other if we can stop hating each other long enough to try. Yeah… I’m screwed.
