Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Format: Paperback

In Ethan Wate’s hometown there lies the darkest of secrets…

There is a girl. Slowly, she pulled the hood down from her head… green eyes, black hair. Lena Duchannes.

There is a curse. On the sixteenth moon, of the sixteenth year, the book will take what it’s been promised. And no one can stop it.

In the end, there is a grave.

Lena and Ethan become bound together by a deep, powerful love. But Lena is cursed and, on her sixteenth birthday, her fate will be decided. Ethan never even saw it coming.

This book was a little different to the usual magical books but it was a good different.

In this book people with magical abilities are called Casters.

Ethan doesn’t know what Lena is to start with and he goes through the motions of simply falling in love with the new girl in town.

The town is small and everyone knows everyone else so when Lena moves to town everyone knows that she is the new girl and she finds it hard to fit in because with a town this small no one likes outsiders.

And once Lena moves to town things start to happen. And it is all blamed on Lena. Because she is the new girl, the outsider and no one wants her there so they try to get rid of her.

But no one thought that Ethan would fall in love so quickly and would fight for her.

Ethan doesn’t know what it is about this girl but he is drawn to her.

Little did he know that they were always destined to be together but who knows what will happen when it comes to Lena’s sixteenth birthday…

Lena is a strong character. She faces the bullying of her classmates and people trying to get rid of her with a silent determination that shows that she doesn’t plan on going anywhere. No matter what they try to do to get rid of her.

Lena tries to face the impending sixteenth birthday on her own but who knows if she’s strong enough. She pushes Ethan away and doesn’t talk to anyone. She tries to remain mysterious and detached from the town but Ethan won’t let her.

Ethan is determined to help Lena and to make things better for her. He doesn’t give up with trying to be there for her.
